Computer Tips

My old friend PC Pitstop

For those of you who have followed my newsletter through several hat changes – well first thanks! Second, you’re about to see a rerun, but it’s a rerun that is a good reminder – PC Pitstop.

PC Pitstop is a web site that will assess your computer for you. PC Pitstop runs diagnostics on your PC to identify things that might help improve performance. I used it today and remembered why I am such a fan.

Using PC Pitstop is easy. Visit their site, and click on the “Ready for a free PC tune-up?” icon. You will need to register or if you are registered you will need to enter your username and password. Then it’s just a matter of following the instructions and waiting. It takes a few minutes to run the diagnostics.

Once the assessment is complete you will see the report. It will tell you how your computer and Internet connection rate and flag any problem areas for you. My favorite aspect is that it will give you step-by-step instructions on how to improve your performance if you are having trouble. These instructions are not geared towards the techies – I think any avid computer user could follow the steps.

Why not take a few minutes to test your computer?
